About the Role
Stocks General Contractors is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to support our underground utility and site development projects.


This role is ideal for an experienced operator who can safely and efficiently run heavy equipment while working alongside pipe crews to ensure accurate, high-quality job site execution. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and takes pride in precision work.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and skid steers
  • Perform trenching, grading, and backfilling for underground utility installation
  • Safely excavate around existing utilities and structures
  • Work alongside pipe crews to support installation of water, sewer, and storm systems
  • Maintain proper grades and elevations according to project specifications
  • Read and follow basic plans, grade stakes, and site layouts
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety standards


What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction
  • Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and utility work
  • Ability to operate safely in tight or complex environments
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow direction and communicate effectively with crew members


Preferred:

  • Experience in underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
  • GPS or grade control system experience
  • Ability to fine grade and work to precise elevations
  • Experience working around active utility lines
  • CDL (not required)


Certifications

  • OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain)


Preferred:

  • Excavation/Trenching Competent Person
  • Confined Space Training
  • Rigging & Signaling


Schedule & Pay

  • Full-Time | Hourly
  • Monday–Friday (8–10 hour shifts; occasional weekends as needed)
  • Weekly pay
